{prince of thorns} by mark lawrence

it is a book you do not want to miss, as it grips onto you with its hooked claws refusing to let go like the briar thorns that held the young boy Jorg (the main, protagonist? 8D) once was.
the style is impeccable in a way, it lets you know his thoughts and his way of thinking and also somehow expresses things way better than superfluous words could. the plot is dark and taunts your curiosity, as little by little, more is revealed, and more is questioned. Fun parts are when you recognise the phrasing from a common cliche-d phrase, in his new style.
it is a tough gritty world, a story that binds you like how a horrifying train wreck would, like how the deadly beauty of a dark panther on the prowl would, like how a plague spreads with a single touch, even as you watch, behind the screen.
a warning; it is not for those who refuse to learn of the dark horrors that could, would and does happen. it is in a way enlightening as a book of horrors could get.
It's all a game. :)
